FUN FACTS: TOGENASHI TOGEARI & GIRLS BAND CRY

FACT #01 // REAL MUSICIANS

A Real Music Audition: “Girl’s Rock Audition”

All five members of Togenashi Togeari were chosen through an audition run by agehasprings with Universal Music Japan and Toei Animation, starting in 2021. They’re real musicians who play their own instruments at real concerts — and they also voice their characters in the anime.

FACT #02 // THE VOICE

Rina, the Voice of Nina, Was Born in 2007

Rina — lead vocalist and the voice of Nina Iseri — was born in 2007, so she was still a teenager when the band debuted in 2023. Her raw, emotional vocals define songs like “空白とカタルシス” and “雑踏、僕らの街”.

FACT #03 // BAND NAME

Where the Name “Togenashi Togeari” Comes From

In the story, Nina comes up with the name after reading a slogan on an audience member’s T-shirt at a live house in Suwa. “Togenashi Togeari” roughly means “thornless, yet thorny” — echoing the famously odd name of a real Japanese leaf beetle, the “togenashi-togeari-togetoge”.

FACT #04 // KAWASAKI

Set in the Real City of Kawasaki

Girls Band Cry is set in Kawasaki, Kanagawa — and the real band is close to the city too: they played the “かわさき100フェス” festival (2024) and host a radio show called “トゲラジ~川崎から世界へ~” (“from Kawasaki to the world”). The characters come from all over Japan: Nina from Kumamoto, Momoka from Asahikawa in Hokkaido, Subaru from Kobe and Tomo from Sendai.

FACT #05 // THE SOUND

The Sound Behind the Story

The anime’s music is produced by Kenji Tamai of agehasprings, the production team behind many well-known J-pop and J-rock acts. The songs are released under Togenashi Togeari’s own name, and the “爆ぜて咲く” music video passed 10 million YouTube views by March 2024.

FACT #06 // CG ANIMATION

An Original CG Anime by Toei Animation

Girls Band Cry is an original CG anime from Toei Animation, directed by Kazuo Sakai with series composition by Jukki Hanada. Its CG team aimed for an “illustration-quality” look, which gives the concert scenes their vivid, detailed feel.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT PDF TO JPG & PNG

1. Is my PDF really safe — is it never uploaded to a server?
100% safe & local. Unlike typical PDF converter sites that upload your document to their cloud servers, TOGE-PDF processes the whole file inside your device’s browser memory (RAM) using the PDF.js 3.11.174 engine and HTML5 Canvas. Once the engine has loaded (a few seconds after the page opens), the converter keeps working even if you switch off Wi-Fi!
2. When should I choose PNG vs JPG?
Choose PNG (lossless) if your PDF is full of sharp text, code, sheet music, tables or black-and-white comics, so there are no blurry artefacts around the letters. Choose JPG for colour photos or magazines when you want much smaller files (the quality slider goes from 10% to 100%).
3. Why do JPGs from other sites sometimes have a black background, while here they’re pure white?
Many PDFs have a transparent background (alpha channel). Because JPG doesn’t support transparency, ordinary converters often turn those transparent areas solid black. TOGE-PDF fills the canvas with pure white #FFFFFF before rendering to JPG, so the result always looks like clean printed paper.
4. Which DPI should I choose (72 / 150 / 200 / 300 DPI)?
• 72 DPI: Very light & fast — great for thumbnails or quick previews.
• 150 DPI (recommended default): Sharp on phone/laptop screens and for sharing on WhatsApp/Discord.
• 200 DPI: Extra sharp for presentations and work documents.
• 300 DPI (studio print): High-resolution print quality for posters, artbooks or official archives.
5. How do I convert only some pages (e.g. pages 1–3 and page 8)?
Just type 1-3, 8 into the 3. Page Range box and click Apply (or press Enter), or tick/untick the checkbox on each page preview card.
6. What if my PDF is password-protected or has 200+ pages?
If the PDF has a password, a password panel appears automatically so you can unlock it locally. For thick PDFs (200+ pages), TOGE-PDF uses a sequential rendering queue: pages are rendered one at a time, each temporary canvas is shrunk to 0x0 as soon as its image is ready, previews are only drawn as you scroll near them, and giant pages are automatically scaled to the browser’s safe pixel limit (16.7 MP) so mobile browsers don’t crash.
